I m verynmuch confuse with Sony vaio model vpccb35fn/b which has full hd resolution , 15’5 inch screen, i5 processor 2.40 ghz, 4 gb ram , 500 hdd , backlite keyboard , radeon hd 6630m 1 gb graphic card. Hi Sugadh, 7200rpm HDD performance will only be noticeable if you do heavy indexing, large file editing/moving (such as movies), and during startup times. There won’t be much noticeable difference between “5400rpm HDD or 7200rpm HDD” performance while playing games, playing movies…

Laptop Motherboard burns because of the Over-heating /Improper cooling. These problems mostly comes in those laptops which have cooling fans at the back plate of the laptops. The hot air coming from the back plate unable to come out properly, so laptops over-heating & motherboard/ graphic card burns.

i am in a look out for a new laptop. it should be cool looking, ultra-portable (my first preference – as light as possible), nice hd display preferably anti glare not more than 14″ ( i’d prefer even smaller ), no compromise on the performance.
shortlisted sony vaio z series. earlier i was thinking of macbook pro 15″ core i7 but then dropped the idea as its size is bothering me. vaio z are light weight and as they claim very good in their performance. i am still a lil hesitant as they vaios are known for bad heat disposal.

There are much complains in Dell Notebooks. Overall Dell is not a good choice.

For Acer laptop contact your nearest dealer, or you can search online stores. For Dell laptop you can order online to Dell.

It depends on the games graphics requirement.
You dont require 512mb or 1gb graphics card for normal games.

wled 14.1 inch display

320 gb hard disk
512-1 gb graphic card
In HP 14″inch is not available with 512MB graphics card.
The other good option is Lenovo IdeaPad Z460
If high resolution gaming is not aim, for download/edit high resln movies pics only; is Intel’s GMA is sufficient or not? Also, the graphix card activated as per appln reqmt or it consumes power contintously even in normal appln?
Intel’s GMA is sufficient for usage like watching movies, download/edit high resln movies pics.
Power consumption depend on the load. Graphics card doesn’t consume power all the time.

HP Is a better choice. Core i5 Processor consume more power so the battery backup will not be good.
Core i5 processor is good if you require more power while playing games, running high-end application , programming.
So if your use is not got gaming or high-end appli then Intel Core i3 Processor is recommended

hp G62 361 TX & dell inspiron (ATI Radeon HD 5470) graphics card.
The battery backup is not so good. Dont expect a good battery backup with a powerful laptop, with 1 gb graphic card.

Lenovo IdeaPad Z560 got 1GB NVIDIA GeForce 315M, this graphics card is very new & specification are not available.
As per my info, NVIDIA GeForce 315M performance will be same or better than ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5450.
HP DM4, got 320GB HDD running @ 7200rpm where as lenovo Z560 HDD runs @ 5400rpm so the over all performace will be better in HP DM4
HP DM4 only comes with Intel Core i5-430M & 450M Processor

Hi shiv, laptop is not for very high-end gaming. Desktop is the proper thing to play high-end games. You wont get good experience & performance while playing games on laptop.
Laptop cant replace desktop specially for gaming purpose.

(ii) If no please suggest me a reliable laptop good for programming using Matlab etc. My budget is around Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 45,000.

Dedicated graphics card is required if you play high-end graphics games, or runs high-end applications. For everyday normal use you dont require dedicated graphics card.

Totally confused. need a laptop around 35K. long battery life preferably win7, i3 or more, RAM 3GB or more and most important does not heat up in prolonged use. Had a bad experience with Dell – more than 2 months to replace a laptop in warranty and still no confirmation from them. (does not rule them out if you think it is still a good option) 14 or 15 screen does not matter. separate numeric pad will be useful. not too worried about graphic card

Hi Sawant, acer aspire 5750G, is a powerful bundle at a very attractive price, the performance is quite good, plenty of RAM (8GB), Sandy bridge processor core i7, which is powerful, gives good graphics & energy efficient.
Its got decent battery life, the screen viewing angles is quite disappointing & built quality is little plastic kind which is not so good.
The speakers are average.
All in all a good powerful laptop at a very decent price.
I will suggest go to the shop & personally check this laptop

I’ve done a primary survey – the above configuration is available in Toshiba Satelite – L750 but it is a 15″ screen which will be ok. Price – Rs 41,500
Also I’ve come to know that these laptops are commercial laptops not meant for continuous program run running for over 12-15 hrs even.
I’ve also been recommended to go for Lenovo Thinkpad T series / HP Elitebook(W or P series) but the cost is very high (Rs75000 – 85000).
Plese also share your views on HP Probook series 6460b. It costs Rs. 55000. Its a business laptop!

BTW, I am planning to buy a new laptop as mine motherboard burned out recently (its Acer make 4051 series bought it in 2004 from UK when I was there).
- Anyway, my stretched budget is around 35K. Cann’t go further it. Sorry.
- And I want i3/i5 for .NET dev. (as I being a .NET developer)
and the laptop MUST not have heating problem.
- I am not concerned @ HDD GB, anything > 100 GB is good enough.
- I am not going to play heavy games on it but if a dedicated graphics card can be available within this budget then its cool. (I like to play Age of Mythology…)
- Screen size doesn’t really matter but I would preffer 15″ or less.
- Other usual good things comes with latest laptop are welcomed.

4> One of the most important usage is as a computer recording studio. I already have a high quality USB Audio interface. I will run DAWs like ProTools & Cubase with lots of plugins for amp, speaker and effects simulation. I will buy a pair of amplified high end bookshelf speakers and the audio will be for playing electric guitar live, music & movies in that order. So audio processing and output should be the best.
5> Toshiba & Fugitsu are popular in the US but not so much here. What do you think about these?
6> Lenovo Idea pad Z 570 has either NVidia N12P-GV1 DDR3 1GB or Nvidia GeForce GT 520M DDR3 1GB Graphics Card. What is the difference between them? Which one is better?

how are u? under ur suggestion i bought a lenovoz560 laptop before 10 months.but unfortunately the LCD screen was damaged(when i closed the laptop there was a charger cable on the keypad, that hits and damaged the screen).i have warranty. is it possible to replace the LCD screen under warranty with free of cost.please reply n help me soon becoz my warranty expires on next one month.

Hi Amir, its sad that your LCD screen got damaged, it wont cover under warranty as it got damaged by your mistake. If the screen is not damaged/ broken then there are chances that lenovo service centre will replace it in warranty.
So at least try visit customer care centre.

sir, if two systems have the same discrete graphics card but one system with 1st gen i5 and the 2nd one with 2nd gen i5 then will there be any difference in their performance keeping all other specification to be the same?

hey i need help can ny1 help me out. i brought hp g62-361tx laptop nrly a year bak.. but soon aft ma warranty was over i started facing problem with my hard disk.. i’m having toshiba hdd in my laptop.. but whenevr i switch on ma laptop i get a black screen and msg showing smard hdd error, iminent hdd failure please backup yo data something like that.. i dont know what to do its jus a year old i spent nrly 3k on fixin it but again having the same prob from past few weeks m using it instead of the same hdd problem suggest me what to do.. n yesterday it also started showing consider replacing your battery, or your computer might shut down. help me with these 2 problems
