Is there a marked diff between i3 and i5? Major usage would be for web, ms office, movies. Not much gaming. So is 3gb+1gb graphics card better or just 4gb ram.
Also, does win7 premium eat more memory than win7 basic.

Intel i5 is approx 10% faster than Inter i3 Processor, & i5 got Turbo Boost, which is useful while using high-end applications. Looking at your usage i3 is enough. But Intel i5 is better & the price difference is not too much.
If you are not into gaming then you dont need 1GB Graphics Card.
Yes Win7 Premium consume more memory than win7 Basic, but With this configuration you will not feel much difference in the system performance.

Hi I am looking for Dell Inspiron 15R with i5 processor, 4GB Ram and 500gb hard disk. The price range looks good in dell for this configuration( around 40k).
But i would like to know if the memory can be upgradable in the future to 8GB. Because i am going to set up vmware lab in the laptop with 3 esx servers in 3 virtual machine. Each virtual machine would require 2GB ram minimum.

There is no extra Memory slots available, so when ever you wants to upgrade it to 8GB, you will have to remove both the 2GB RAM, & you can insert 4GB RAM in each memory slots.

In dell you will not get any extra slot for RAM, & maximum you can get 6GB of RAM. There are few Models in Dell other than ‘Inspiron’ & ‘Studio’ in which you can get 8GB RAM , but it will be very costly.

I have a bought a Dell Inspiron 15R (T540612IN8) laptop, the manual says that we can insert a SIM card in the laptop. However when looked at the place where the SIM had to be inserted(after removing the battery) found that it just a open slot and the SIM cannot be inserted in there.
Should i be looking at some other place.

Intel Core i5 Performance is better. AMD Phenom II N930 Quad-Core Processor is good for gaming, but not for every use and its speed is only 2.0 GHZ.

Hi Siddharth, for 3D animation there should be a minimum of 512 MB of graphics memory. A minimum of 1 GB is recommend for the most complex scenes, shaders, and lighting modes.
Graphics card does effect the battery backup. But you must have Graphics card for animation

Regarding other brand laptops
Sony Vaio, i dont suggest coz in vaio there is lots of complains regarding motherboard burn, lines on screen, poor heat disposal.
Hp & Toshiba are ggod but their prices are quite high.

Dell inspiron 17R, gives decent performance, but battery backup is poor, speakers are not good, u wont get very good gaming experience.
Check ASUS N61Jv, its among the good 17″ display laptop for great gaming experience & multimedia

HP got overheating issue when HP Pavilion was launched, now there is no such probs now.
Most of the laptop got heat-up because of high-eng graphics card & playing games for long time. So it is recommended to use laptop cooling pad, to avoid overheating while playing games.
Do extend your laptop warranty.
I dont know abt the dealers in pune. Dont go in a big malls like croma, reliance, go to a dealer shop who sell only laptop/computers, & bargain. I am sure you will get discount there.

If you are into gaming or high-end application, then you should have 1Gb graphics card, you cant compare 512MB graphics card with 1GB graphics card. Build quality is average, but heavier than other laptops, speakers are not so good.
You can get 1GB graphics card in other laptop at the same price.
Take 3 yr warranty for any laptops.

i m engineering stundant & i want to buy a laptop having i5 processor, 4 gb ram, 500 gb hard disk. I observed two models- sony viao vpceh18fg comes with 512 mb nvidi graphics card & othes is dell n5110 comes with1gb ati graphics card. I am very confusing between this two because sony have good audio & software content. But dell come with 1gb graphics card. Please give advise to me which i should buy.

The capacity advertised by hard disk drive manufacturers isn’t the real drive capacity
The actual available storage space in 500Gb Harddisk is around 465Gb & around 15Gb is used by your operating system, that why you are getting 450Gb of storage space in your harddrive
